Photography Challenge: Lifestyle

Horse Kisses

I’m working on a very special project right now that I don’t want to give too much info about just yet.  I want to save all that for a future post.  So, what I will talk about is my reaction when I saw Rock the Shot’s announcement that this month’s photography challenge theme is lifestyle.

Let’s just say the word “BAM!” and a fist pump (or two) were involved.

Lifestyle photography is my niche.  I know this.  There is not a single doubt in my mind that when I am taking photos in which I am trying to capture those natural moments that define my subjects, I am in my groove and I am creating my very best work.  So, when my friend Shana and I started talking about this little project I’m working on, she and I both knew that it fit perfectly with my passion for lifestyle photography.

Shana just so happens to be the gorgeous gal in this photo and one of the individuals on whom my special little project focuses.  Shana has a passion for horses. She also has a passion for transforming ordinary furniture and antiques into gorgeous pieces with interesting stories, and she has an incredible passion for helping others.

That passion for helping others is probably what led her to become a dentist, which is how we came to be friends.  Not many people can say they formed a friendship over laughing gas and a miserable case of dry socket!

I hope you love this photo of Shana and this big guy trying to give her a kiss as much as I do.  I seriously struggled (again) this month with trying to decide which photo to choose.  You will get to see the close runner-up in my next post, so stay tuned! 🙂

In the meantime, head over to and check out all the gorgeous submissions for this month’s challenge!

And last, but certainly not least, head over to my Facebook page and give me a like at
